Argentina opened Tuesday’s round of 16 action at the World Cup by defeating Egypt 3-2 in Atlanta. Lionel Messi scored again for the defending champion, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the second half. Switzerland then earned the final quarterfinal spot, eliminating Colombia in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw in Vancouver, British Columbia.
