The New York Knicks will celebrate the team’s first NBA championship since 1973 with a ticker-tape parade on Thursday. It marks the first championship parade in franchise history despite the team’s three previous title wins, making it a novel experience for fans of all ages.
The Knicks closed out the NBA Finals with a 4-1 series win over the San Antonio Spurs last week thanks to a clutch run from star point guard Jalen Brunson, which culminated in a 45-point performance in Game 5 that more than earned his title of NBA Finals MVP.

The Knicks parade will start at 10 a.m. ET in Lower Manhattan near Battery Park, with the route extending up Broadway to New York City Hall, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani will present the team the keys to the city in a ticketed ceremony. If the early celebrations (and subsequent chaos) are any indication, Manhattan is preparing for the parade of a lifetime.

City Hall has the jersey numbers hung up behind the stage for the post-parade ceremony later. Someone forgot to check the Knicks’ jersey numbers. Dillon Jones wore No. 33 during last year’s preseason before he was cut and ended up landing with New York in January.
No. 33 has been hanging in the rafters at MSG for the “Big Fella,” Patrick Ewing, since 2003.
